Heavy mono

Just looking for thoughts on a good mono line of around 50lbs that isn't like a washing line and holds a decent knot. Don't know if many of you fish that heavy but any and all recommendations welcome

Cheers

Maxima Chameleon in 50lb is excellent stuff (only downside is the price!) - I use it for all my rough ground hook-lengths. Daiwa Tournament in 50lb is also good stuff; not as wiry as the likes of Sensor & Trilene, I've got it loaded on my Scarborough reel as mainline and it casts very well.

Gary :)

We do proper fishing up this way greg :)

Kidding mate, I want it to use straight through for really rough stuff

Cheers gforce

Is the ground that bad up your way like mate I go to hagerston all the time might have to take the rod up with me this year

Once you get North of the Tweed it is mostly really heavy going mate. Couple of spots not so bad but the majority is rough as! Rotten bottoms a must

If its summer hols trips to hag bring your rod and hunt the kelpies

I've got 100lb braid on a 535 for fishing into the really heavy stuff. Similar diameter to 25-30lb mono and is great for pulling out of snags as it has zero stretch. Chinese stuff from fleabay will be same price or cheaper than bulk spool of 50lb mono

Is it the Chinese stuff you are using Stewart?

Was considering the 100lbs power pro. Have 50lbs on one of my reels just now but it is no good in amongst the rocks, just gets cut through.

If the Chinese stuff is okay might give it a shot
