Just a quick hello as im new on here...

Ive just bought my first boat, its a shetland 535 with a old yamaha 85hp 2 stroke engine named Red meph....

Ive had it in the water twice to try it but will be fishing off it on the next outing, and i am launching it from hartlepool marine slipway....

welcome to the site mate, nice looking boat you have there

i'm in the yacht club opposite that ramp, if you need a hand with owt, just gis a shout...

Cheers it could do with a paint but ill do that in the summer

Welcome aboard

If it hasnt been painted then i wouldnt paint it at all . except polist it and restore the natural colour

Painted boats are worth a lot less than unpainted ones

Also it looks like a Suntrip version of the 535 so a good stable angling platform, one thing to consider is that manurfactures maximum engine size for that boat is actually 65hp so be very carefull as is anything goes wrong your insurance will go void on you as the engine on the boat is over the design rating. (sorry to be a kiljoy but if you didnt know ignorance wouldnt protect you)

Cheers for the advice... i told my insurance it had a 85hp outborad but did not know about the maximum engine size as im new to all this.. ill maby keep an eye out for a newer 65hp engine to replace it... to be honest theres no need to use more than half throttle on it so a smaller engine maby better suited...it has had a big metal plate made for the engine to sit over so maby they have done that to strenthen the boat for the bigger engine...

the boat needs a paint as its past polishing... lol... i do know the flybridge was made by the last owners father and is a one off .... think he said it has been in his family for 20 odd years..
