hello nev mate welcome to nesa.the type of gear you are looking for will depend on what type of sea fishing you are thinking of doing and what your bubget is. im pretty new to sea fishing myself only been doing it a couple of years.i have been using a greys appollo and mag525 reel since i started but have just bought a any fish any where rod and i think its great one ofthe lads is selling the same one i have in the for sale section.check it out mate its a bargain.if you are looking for something a bit cheaper check out ebay of find out what your after and put it in the wanted section of nesa you never know there might be a bargain out there for you.by the way my appollo is for sale if you want it:p:D :D

Nev, the rod you have was and still is an excellent rod.

I would be confident using it along any of the marks along our coastline.

If anything i would suggest you purchase another reel to compliment what you already have.

Good advice there , by the way Nev ,you're only a junior member due to your lack of posts ,when you've made a few more you'll soon jump up mate .
P.S. welcome to NESA ,you'll get all the information you need on here mate.

Hi Nev, KeithB, myself and a few others are out every week fishing marks usually between Tynemouth and Blyth. Any time you want to join us you are more than welcome mate.

I will be out tonight too lol.

Jim.

you missed the fish by 24 hours mate thursday night was the time for a chance at some decent cod. now the seas settled down there should be some good bags of whiting about at roker.
tons of good marks to fish locally but all down to sea conditions and state of tide, so without knowing the time you are going down and the sea conditions at that time its hard to recomend venues, if u post the time day you are going fishing i'm sure you'll get pointed in the right direction.

as for the rod and reel as previously posted your rod is well upto the task but for a good general purpose reel a penn 525mag, abu 7000/7500 or diawa slosh would be better choices unless only fishing clean beaches where your 6500 would sufice, hope this helps.
