I was fishing the ratty this morning got sick and went for a wonder through shields to get some pics on me camera etc, Standin next to the gun on the hill and looking to my right was a beach and rocks etc is this a good mark to fish? whats best times etc? cheeeeeeers

The bay to the right(south) is Ladys Bay, the rock further south is Target rock the headland farthest south is The North Arm. Jarrow viking had some flatties from target the other week and some good cod are caught there too. Ladys bay used to be good for flatties but unsure now.

I've had flattie out the bay on the left side with flappers fished low to high.

Target can be fished high or low (if you want to risk the top of the rock that is) with some success. In the winter we've had cod, coalie, rockling, flatties, bass.

Floated off and around trow with a little success but never bottom fished.

The beach to the right is Grahams Sands. I've heard you can get the odd schoolie bass there but haven't managed it myself. Target Rock is too dodgy to climb on top but there is a gap in the middle where it has collapsed and you can climb down there to fish at high tide. Low tide there are a lot more rocks exposed so you would need to walk out to the front of target to fish. I've fished there twice over high and caught nowt but was spinning not bottom fishing.

yeah you can.
Walk up towards the gun, then head south and climb down a small mud bank, there's a sort of fishing platform there.

Hi mate, If you fish the rocks in front of the gun I would take two rods.
There's a reef of rock that juts straight out to sea from the fishing platform, its rocky to the left and mainly sand to the right. I fished it a bit before Christmas and got a few nice coalies casting straight out, and some decent folunders on my other rod casting right into the little bay. It's hit and miss though, and you get the odd jet skier to contend with.
Regards Rocker.

Your welcome mate!
Just one more thing, there are a couple of boulders in front of the fishing platform that protrude out of the water, they can de a pain to retreive fish over, so do a mental reccy of where you would land a decent fish should one happen along.
Nice place to spend a few hours.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.:)

Well fished on a smooth platform to the right of the gun. Not a bite. Nice morning and sun was out so wasnt all bad! Will defo get down again as it was nice and quiet spot lovly
