i would imagine it might get a bit scary when the breeze is coming from the sea. the road and car park which are a matter of feet behind where you see my rod where splattered with flotsam and jetsom. its the first time ive fished their in a long long time so perhaps some of the other members can give you a better idea but from looking at it you'd presume a good lift on the sea and the fishies would be chucking themselves out of the water. not today unfortunately, never mind, it was nice to get out.

think thats me @ the far end in the van :)

jarrow in an easterly it can be fun , wet and productive but care must be taken , 1 lad on here was almost washed off a few weeks ago from the area just north of this photo

i have had waves breaking over my van lots of times , theres a few photos i have put up when its rough if you search for my posts
this is a small swell for down there some times

followed your links bazw to the hendon pics. i was'nt aware it was as dangerous as that but considering the boulders theyve put in frpnt of the breakwater, it nust funnel all the water up onto the prom instead of back out to sea like its supposed to do. thanks for the advice.
aye, i do seem to remember a big van passing me and heading off to the end of the prom. i take it that was yourself.

aye thats the best mark mate at the end were the van is,the wide open bit bandstand before there is canny aswell mate;)

oh thats not dangerous thats a good fishing sea :D

when its dangerous you can see the waves breaking from half a mile back from the sea where i live , i tend to put my floatation suit on before setting out if i see waves from home LOL

the rocks are there to save the sea wall from wave impact damage , which is funny as the wall is there to save the beach and cliffs from wave damage ,all they do is stop people getting to the steps built into the end of the groins for crossing from bay to bay , the gaps in the groins were put in this year by "health and safety " to do the same job but as they know soooooooooooo much more than the beach /marine engineers who built them we wonder why the beach disappears every heavy sea to the point where if you go on the beach and dont watch the tide the sea cuts you off from the ramps long before the main areas of beach are awash + you are supposed to be able to walk round the south end at low water some thing no one has seen since the rocks were put there ,

but with luck they will be coming off there soon . at ryhope there is an old land fill and the latest survey shows the cliff to be 6 foot thick to the rubbish inside , people here are pushing for the rocks to be moved to protect the cliff there as the council say they can not afford to buy more rock , so eco disaster or redo the face of the sea wall with some cement every now and then and move the rocks , we wait an hope they move ( the council ) before the cliffs do

for got to add

whities and rockling along far end but nowt big
