anyone know a local place thats sells them alive or frozen?

Ya best off seeing crab boats that drop there pots well off , they get them the size of ya fist used to get the from a skipper in burnmouth , got to keep them in water or they croke , to get them out the shell use a kitchen blow torch , they jump out when you heat the shell
Ya can buy frozen ones but I've never tried them , fresh ones are the dogs off the coast just hard to get a hold of , good luck mate

The small blowtorches ya can get for cooking with ya fill them with gas , only about a £10 .

any idea were to get them though as fish quays dont do them

ya have to see the lads face to face on the potting boats, tell them to keep them for you and you will sort them a drink.

we get the odd ones inside in the pots, but the lads who fish further off get plenty.

ya cant really keep them alive they just die( unless over the side of the boat in a keep basket). they can be dynamite when live on certain days,

i dont rate them when they are frozen to be honest. as stated burn the end of the shell and they will crawl out, if that fails just smash the shell.

and dont only use them over the rough. ive had my share of fish on them on the soft.
