Well lads i got back to my favourite pier yesterday.
First challenge was the first bl--dy fence. Now if you 5 foot tall you would probs manage great getting through the hole -but at 6 foot and aged nearly 50 it was a precarious struggle. Still i made it then climbed the second fence. Set up off the end fishing to the right with a two hook flapper rig using rag and maccy.
Rewarded with a Tommy on first cast---it was loooking good. Sea was acky and there was a nice roll on. couple more casts and had a fish nearly every cast. At one point i had two massive whities on in one go.
Caught a nice pan size cod then a bigger on of about 2lb.

took home these fellas-so not a bad day all in all.

A good day but keep an eye out on the end when its dark lads-i nearly went for a swim at one point.

Well done,seems all the fish are same stamp at moment.Never fished that way myself,seems to throw up some good fish in winter though.
Is it fishable in a BIG sea?Clean bottom i take it?

i was on there too micj had a craking night i was fishing just above the shackles wherte the life belt is fish every other cast only took 4 home with me

Daz i saw you were doing canny up top mate. I,m going to remember that spot for when its jam packed on the end. Spoke to one lad on the way off at the shackles and he was saying it was mixed ground.

its down at the headland in hartlepool just round from the huegh gun battery just after the second fence its all mixed ground but the further up you go it get clearer and right on the end your on clear ground absolute death trap on a big sea by the way id steer clear 100%

Ive only been a couple of times and have had more Cod this year than i did last year. Mind i,ve put my thinking cap on this year. I realise when its flat calm or there has,nt been a good stir its worth the drive up to the Tyne. River has some nice plump cod in when the seas not up to much.
