High end spinning gear

Hi I'm looking for a high end rod and reel to use for spinning for bass / pollock

Would prefer the rod to be 8-9ft

Any ideas?

I bought a shimano exage 7 piece
Traveller from id fishing & love it to bits use it a lot down in Cornwall

I also have a top section of a century flattie rod I broke the butt section
All you have to do is reverse the eyes onto opposite side so spline is on inside of the rod
It's a great piece of kit which will handle some big surprises! It gets used regularly fishing the mull where it can get knocked about a bit & if I do hook into something unusual or a pollock goes deep into rock or weed it can comfortably do the job

Veals 4s travel spinning rod casts up to 80g cracking rod son had 22lb cod on it in norway handled it no bother

Well couple hundred maybe less just a quality setup really

Cheers lads any suggestions on reels?

Snowbee Raptor SW-4000 is what i use now..had a few decent shimano fixed spool reels and prefer the raptor over any i have had and again will set you back around the £60 mark

I’d look for something at least 9 ft long, 10ft or 11ft would be better giving more control of the line and fish around the rock ends. Get a cheap rod as it will be battered around on the rocks and you don’t want to do that to something expensive. Shimano reels in the 3000 size range are about right. Daiwa and Shimano gear are both worth a look.

Which ever reel you get, put some Berkly 30lb whiplash braid onto it.

Carp rods are worth a look also, I used a maver genesis carp rod summer gone for my spinning and float fishing for wrasse and had no problems at all

I've been looking at those shimano exage travel rods reckon they would do the trick as a permanent home rod too?
I got the impression that because they are travel they won't be as durable when used week in week out

Had mine for bout 3 years
Used it for pike found it ideal for lobbing a big lure or spinner into the reed beds,
Take it every time I go to Cornwall regardless if I plan in fishing or not had some cracking pollock & bass on it, & some lovely wrasse
& lovely for light spinning off the piers for mackerel
I love it & still as good as new I always wags it down & dry after every trip, wouldn't hesitate in buying another just incase they stop making them

Used a shimano beastmaster stc 8/9ft 15/45g all over the place and fish to 5/6lb on it no bother at all at places like st abbs, eyemouth and other places in northumberland. Cracking little rods.

Got to agree with out cast , the bushwacker is a great rod for the money , there well built and durable . I have been using the 15g to 50g one for a few year and it ain't missed a beat, my only regrets is not buying the 10 to 40g one to handle the smaller lures better
