High Water Marks - north side of Tyne

Up to now I've only fished Blyth Beach when it's High Water...all other beaches etc I've fished either side of low water...

Which other parts of either Blyth, Whitley or Tynemouth fish at high water...if any?

The only ones I know of are:

• Back of the Silos - Cambois (only BIG tides though apparently)
• The Middle Bogs
• The Boat House(Station) on Whitley Beach
• St Marys Prom'
• Oxfauld

There must be more surely...

Any help/info greatly appreciated

from tynemouth to blyth,the beach at king eddies, the prom on the north corner of the beach,the bathing pool,bottom of the stairs at the north end of tynemouth beach, the harbour beach on a big sea, goaties gut, the slab,marconi point,the pulprits.lions den.the chair, the corkscrews.the rex prom,watts slope on a small tide,the new prom,the bibles,middle of west bay,harlley, the crag,bottom of the stairs south end of colleywell also the north end.back of the kings arms,the sumps and what ever high water hole there is on blyth beach not just the middle bogs as the beach shift with the state of the sea, that do you wallsendo for ten

As a coincidence ...I took some pics today with the intention of posting them on the site as a handy high water mark, Goatsies Prom Cullercoats...when driving North past the Queens head Pub you come to a sharp bend (with the Fishermans Mission Methodist Church on the Left) Turn right on that bend, drive down Cliff row, it will bring you straight onto the prom. the mark is best fished approx 2 hours up and 2 hours down. you are fishing mixed ground and should be prepared to lose a few sinkers so rotten bottoms are order of the day, you can fish from the car. I would just add, as with all of our marks to fish responsibly as this is a public walkway and it is frequented by strollers and dogwalkers alike so please take all your left over bait,line and hooks home with you.

Funny how marks seem to go in and out of fashion. Years ago the gullies north of Cullercoats were big fish marks (MM's 20 pounder from the Warriors - top of Tommys second pic being the last example).
Nowadays you hardly see or hear of a fish from that side and most people opt for the south side of the harbour or the Slatey.

crawleys is a low water mark and is opposite to north crab hill on the other side of browns bay were the swimming pool is in the rocks, just before it you have the pulpits which is high water and after it heading towards the pipe you have the chair which is also a high water mark,

some people still fish around the warriors etc stores,i remember that fish mac (rip) got,it was a belter and he got it in one of the opens, there was a south east swell going that day if i remember

You know why I think there are fewer fish from the Warriors? ............and the South Crab Hill? ..........and the Slatey?.........and even Sharpness?......or Whitley Pipe?




No pipes at any of those venues now (Whitley excepted) and although taking out the structure might have had an adverse effect on tidal movements (especially at the Bottom of the Stairs), I think the lack of sewage has altered the ecosystems of these places where the top dog was the codling. No cr*p = no scavengers = less feed = less fish.

Last time I fished there at high water a bloke next to me had an eight pounder out , it was a couple of years ago now.

The post was high water marks Ryan, I share your frustration about netting mate , hopefully things will change in the near future when we can have our say with the sfc's.

It's got nowt to do with the gill nets as some of you might already know know. There are actually less boats fishing with them from North Shields this year than there was last year.
The reason for this is that the seal population around our coast has exploded, and they are eating all of the fish in the nets before the fisherman can haul.
