How hard is it

How hard is it to get a place on a charter boat if you are wanting a days fishing for yourself.
I did try phoning some yesterday to see if i could get out today as i thought the weather was going to be good as the wind was forecast to drop but i had no luck, I did manage to get through to one one skipper but he was not going out today and the rest of my phone calls were answering service I guess they were busy, probably my own fault as I find it hard to talk to a machine.:red:
I have not been out boat fishing for many years so i might be a bit to keen.
Not like the old days just turn up at the fish quay and ask the skippers if they had room for one or more two more if I had the girlfriend in tow (who is my wife now)
Any advise welcome

bare in mind that if the forecast is half decent outside the chances are that they are out at sea...

I did think that, guess i have to be a bit more patient or phone when they are back on shore, anyhoo its card night for me so that will take my mind off fishing for at least a few hours.

Should be spots mid-week its only the weekends that get packed out.

If you leave a number i am sure they will ring you back as at the end of the day the more people they can get in the summer months the better it is......its a long winter with no income.

That makes sense i will have to get over not talking to answer phone and leave a message.
I do have a Friend that has a boat so weather and work permitting i stand a chance of a trip out off Sunderland, just got to keep my fingers crossed.

plenty of time mate, busy this weekend so maybe the weekend after or if not defo the weekend after that if the weather is good, war lord is the cheapest ive came accross upto now so thats going to be the boat i go on as soon as i get my car sorted,

If you had of lived down on the south coast you could of made one call and been offered a whole host of boats


But in the north its far different

there are websites which give the skippers chance to put on places especially the one on World Sea Fishing but only one in the north east is using it so far which is one of the guys at amble


so have a look there once word gets round that it works they will all start using it and it will be easy for people to see who has a space for a short notice trip

Had a look there is a boat with 10 places on his boat at Amble, I am trying to sort something out with the skipper of the Warlord so if that fails I will try the one from the World Sea Fishing. Thanks for your post, and all the others that posted

At 9 oclock this morning I had a phone call from Jeff to let me know there was two places on the Warlord, so i am out this Saturday all being well, so I would like to thank you all who posted in reply to my post and for your advice.

aye mate as the season progresses weekend will be fairly well subscribed,one thing you could do is look for 2 places x 4 on different boats and have a bit of a grudge match:exclam: or a friendly competition or just try and all get a day off mid week.good luck in your quest
