HPR....from CENTURY

After doing a bit research into buying a new rod I stumbled upon a link on the Century web site. The new improved HPR system (High Performance Resins)
Read on:
3M™ has granted very few licenses worldwide of their Matrix Resin system to carefully selected rod manufacturers: Century is one and we manufacture in UK.

So back to this "quantum" leap in technology – which we believe is on a par with the generational leap that was made in the 1970's when the first carbon fibre based rods challenged glass fibre designs. What are the benefits to an angler using a rod based on this remarkable system?

•A significant increase in the rod’s compression strength by resisting micro-buckling, delivering improved hoop and flexural strength. The result is up to a 35% stronger rod whilst maintaining the most desirable action without adding extra fibre. This means more pressure can be applied with confidence both in casting and control of the battle curve.
•A radical improvement in the resin’s adhesive bond between the carbon fibres and thus an increase in the internal shear strength of the rod.
•The new system is almost twice as hard as conventional resins when fully cured and better resists small surface scuffs and knocks.
•The rod’s moment of inertia (MOI) can be controlled to best advantage by intelligent distribution of composite biased towards the lower part of the rod. This reduces fatigue and improves control of the casting stroke and playing action.
•A remarkable increase in sensitivity and performance as the rod’s frequency (time to recover to neutral over the oscillation cycle) is enhanced by 25%.
Century's extensive testing both in our laboratory and most importantly in actual use reveals that our HPR rods manufactured with 3M's new Matrix Resin give a significant increase in tensile and flexural modulus for improved sensitivity, lightning quick recovery, significant increase in fracture resistance and overall rod toughness.
Summary: Price's will be up, rods are stronger, more shelf life. Not bad.

There is also a century hpr ttr prototype out there. Would expect its not long before they go into mainstream production.

Gary pye was suppose to own 1 from a few month ago
Century gave it to him or so i got told

Im not sure mate but aye ya right there was hardly a kink at all and they were really nice fish he had aswell

i looked at a new version tts a few weeks back in nets gary pye showed me i think this must of been a one wth the new resins.

also jaylee the big caster is using them at the minute i think.

"Significant increase in fracture resistance " well that's good news cos stiff Century rods are known to have snapped on a number of occasions. I have no doubt that the usual tackle tarts will rush to buy the latest must have rod after listening to a generous dollop of "advice " given freely by people who in truth would probably never buy the product if they had to pay for it.............Zzippy's don't snap the rest are pap, nothing comes close...... whatever the freebie hunters tell you.:D:D

sonik

sonik

dont sonik have the nano carbons in there rods thay still snap wait till some 1 has give one a good thrashing 4 6 months on a good rock mark b4 u buy a new cenutry ps nothing wrong with there rods ;)

I've got a Century HPR 9ft Lure Rod (5g to 25g) and im well impressed with it. It's power, response and action are fantastic for such light gear. If that's anything to go by I think the heavier Rod HPR range will be excellent. I also have a 2010 Kompressor SS, so would love to see the difference the HPR technology makes to these size rods.

Si

HPR "Eliminator" /Excalibure

Definately looks like il be saving up for the HPR "Eliminator" /Excalibure. Price wise it will be worth it in the long run, some cracking reports from the Century lads so no complaints.:)
