agree with you mate its absolutly madness, they should get these politicions and keel haul the b******ds till they come to their senses and stop this miadness, the size and the quality of the fish that was thrown back dead was ashamedly disgusting .lets hope hugh's programme can help to put this right

got some very good friends that are trawlermen, and it sickens all of them.
it would be nice to think that this series changes attitudes not just among joe public but also the 'fishermen are rapists of the sea' brigade
everyone I know would rather be told you can have XX days at sea, in area XX with such and such gear, land everything and then thats you done for the year, done that way they will actually be catching less cod than they are now, but landing all of it
one factoid from that one that I'd like to see changed as well is the fact that 75% of the uk's boats are under 10m boats, yet they only get 5% of the quota
less big boats more small boats is what is needed. no more super seiners hauling in 1000 tons of mackeral at a time

I have to admit to being totally shocked , a ridiculous waste of good fish ,I partly understand why these measures were put in but they obviously don't work which begs the question why arent the governing bodies managing things in the way that they are paid to ?

I've just watched the programme due to the boss wanting to watch Silent Witness. Totally shocking what is going on, 5 boxes of cod salvaged from that boat and 10 times that dicarded on the way in the skipper said.
On the subject of Mackerel Butties, hmmm, going to try them when the mackerel show, but if they take off i reckon Alan Charlton might be stuggling for his Mackerel quota this year..

I personally hope and pray that it raises enough interest into something being done about it this cannot continue and whole heartedly agree with the time quota instead of the weight quota but then also regulation of boat size as prev mentioned otherwise the big boats will just see pounds signs again and that is when the sea will be decimated fingers crossed to a common sense conclusion here's hoping!!
