I read all this about Niall Quinn and this takeover, and I sit and think.

It\'s alright for Shearer to come back to his home club for £15m and be celebrated like he is as a hero, but Quinn is a bloke who had no previous ties with Sunderland, yet felt so deeply about Sunderland after seeing the end of his career here that he had to buy the club.

Every Sunderland fan who was present during the Quinn/ Phillips days should be proud of the passion they showed, as this is ultimately the reason why Niall wants to buy this club.

Personally, as an avid supporter of the bloke (the best target man I\'ve ever seen) I can\'t wait for him to take over.

To all the black and whites who never seen him week in/week out, imagine Shearer...and then some. He was that good. A touch to die for, awareness that frightened you, and the best back post forward I\'ve ever seen.

could\'nt agree more Davey,he was a cracking player, hope it works out for you\'s and you\'s get straight back up,lets hope the fans stick to there word and turn up in force to support them as well

Great player and a true Gent.

What I would give for a repaeat of the Quinn / Phillips era.

I might even be tempted to miss a week on the boat to see an away game again.

Whilst I\'m a black and white and admire what Shearer did in his career I\'m still not so sucked up to think that he is GOD. I however still rate him a better player than Quinn. I have always been an admirer of Quinn, at Aresenal and Man City as well as Sunderland but I din\'t think he quite had that same ability to dominate a game at his peak in the way that Shearer did in his.

As for what comes across in his personality as a person I think Quinn seems genuinely a good bloke.

davy you wearing rose tinted glasses or just them red n white ones ??? lol

not getting into geordie v mackem arguments but stats and records speak for themseves shearer was a far better player than quinny in every department apart from height lol
quinn and philips was a good partnership i grant you that but shearers allways done well with whoever he plays alongside even bloody ameobi could score goals alongside wor alan

shearer v quinn shearer every time! im sure if any mackem out there had the choice they would have chosen shearer. but you cant take it away from quinn and ill take my hat off to the bloke. it was a pleasure to see him set a presidence in the testimonial by giving all the money away publically to good causes. now everyone seems to be doing the same.

would love to see him bring sunderland back up just for the sessions watching the derbys 6 points a season cant complain.

Keith / Davy...

I have to disagree...Thomas Hauser and Warren Hawke were a class act and Quinn / Phillips were just a very lucky to acheive what they did...!!

Jeff.

lol keith ,we only did when we were losing which was only twice if it was the in thing this yr safc fans would be on the pitch every game this yr apart from this weeks game when i expect you to beat fulham [ you better because ime laying money down on it ]

Lol @ Jeff, let\'s not forget Tom Ritchie, you could write a book about the crap players we\'ve had over the years, in fact I think they did it\'s called \"All The Lads\" or summit.

Hope you win your bet Paul, I\'m that sick of giving ladbrokes cash I back the other team now, how\'s that for support lol

i know what you mean keith lol

help me out you back fulham so my double comes up
sunderland to beat fulham
newcastle to beat chelsea

should show a canny profit

well keith after tonights win do you want me to back sunderland for the champoinship next yr lol saying thats the first time ive ever backed sunderland to win a game or should i retire as the nesa top tipster with a 100% succes rate lmho

pity the bookies are tight fisted 13/5 for sunderland tonight and only 15/8 for the toon on sunday seems i wont be a millionaire come sunday after all

Quinn has a passion for Sunderland and this shows by the interested parties he has got together to make the bid. He was a class act, shouldn\'t be manager, but will be at every game as a board member. Last night\'s game was just a nice send off for us (19 games I\'ve watched at home this season waiting for that). It\'s looking good for our club and hopefully Quinny will pull it off

well keith you can buy me a beer saying as you won more than me lol

ya mate can buy me a boat

heres a questin for you keith
can you name 1 newcastle player and 1 sunderland player who when there carreers finished went on to become coppers and thats not just the only thing they have in common [ thats a canny clue lol ]
