Cheers for the welcome Steve!

Aye it is that, although for some strange reason i really miss freezing my ass off on the rocks and beaches in the rain and cold! Wierd isn't it!

Those wolfies are lovely to eat ,they may look butt ugly but they taste fantastic ,many of the trawler skippers keep them for themselves as they are considered one of the best .

I could be wrong but may translate as "stonebiter".

I've seen a few caught but never had one myself. If memory serves me right the fillets are a nice salmon colour. Never eaten one but been told they're very nice

that would be a straight translation into english mate the wife (she Icelandic) tells me it does not translate properly....you are right about the taste thogh it is very nice, firm than cod and distinctive flavour.

not cought one yet as only just started fishing again :)

regards

I remember 20 yrs ago Jackie Young had a cat from the shore at Eyemouth of 9lb plus. It held the scottish record for about a month until it was beaten by a much bigger fish from farther north. My dad told me it clamped onto the butt of his scarborough rod and he showed me the teeth marks to prove it !!
I got the fangs they were about the size of camels teeth and can only imagine the damage they would do to your fingers.
