Thanks lads. You'd think I caught it, i'm over the moon for him, :)
I'm also on WSF and put it on there. Can't believe how some ppl are so ignorant towards a kid. :( Green eyed monsters me thinks :)

Exactly mate, some people down south probably hate the fact it hasn't been caught down their way.

Hi All,

I've just returned from Andy Rutherfords were he's verified the fish as a Greater Forkbeard, weighing in at 3lb dead. He's given me a signed certificate of verification.
My son, Morgan is absolutely over the moon.

as you and a few more have found out the wsf is about as friendly as under fed leopard:)

well done to the lad on his catch:D

This is a quote from the first post i got on WSF: (I said the bairn caught a rare fish and didn't know what it was)

Bit rarer now ones dead. Couldn't a decent pic have told you all you needed to know?

Then his next post:

Did you take it to the shop to claim a record of a fish you couldn't id? You could have had no idea that it was a potential record at the time, you just took a dead fish into a shop to ask what it was - to my mind there's no need for that at all.

Plenty of records could have gone in the recent past but the anglers at the time declined to kill the animal for a sake of a record, your choice to do so even if it turns some anglers off but if i read your post correctly you were primarily concerned with it's id not to claim a record.

Call it jealousy if it makes you feel better but well done to your nipper for bagging it in the first instance but what followed isn't the best of examples is it.

Haha, have i just been beamed upto cuckoo land. :D

Great way to be introduced to fishing for the lad, well chuffed for him.

Ignore the idiots mate :(

Well done to the lad, there's certainly been some queer fish turning up at Roker this 'summer'.

Also gotta say, thank feck you asked what it was before you filletted and battered it.

Ha ha. It lay in the sink for about 20mins before i decided to see what it was on nesa. Normally i gut them straight away, so glad i waited to see what it was first. :)

Ignore the numpties on wsf mate like ya say green eyed monsters I very rarely use the site anymore because of negative attitudes to kids and northern anglers in general. Everything ya need to know is here on nesa anyways ;)

This is a great story pazza, I think I would get the fish stuffed, and I don't mean with lemons etc. After it's gone through the verification process like:D

well done to your young un Pazza, and forget whet the numpties on WSF say, have had dealings with them before, they let anybody print anything, think I am now of their christmas card list, tried to log on the other day, my logon details where not accepted.

As i've found out myself Alan, it's probably not worth the hassle mate. Though there has been a lot of positive posts on the bairns catch since the numpty had his two peneth. :)

Congratulations to your son and yourself on this very rare catch and from the Rathouse of all places. I sincerely hope it is a record and hopefully this will keep your son interested in fishing forever. A friend of mine caught a wrasse today at shields and it made our day. Fishing is a great sport that can be enjoyed by all.

Have mentioned what bait you caught it with, if not! can you please? I'm sure everyone will be keen to know.

Regards Rushy
