Is this a bream?

have a look at this guys, I am not claiming it as a catch, I was fishing at Stubblies@Blyth tonite, a dog walker brought this fish to me, it was just alive, I knew it wouldn't survive, so brought it home, it weighs spot on 5lbs, I think its a bream, the dog walker found it in the shallows, also more importantly is it good to eat!

sounds like a Rays Bream I caught one at Tynemouth a few weeks back and had to ask on here what it was. They have a habit of beaching in shallows. Somebody on here said they were good to eat but I threw mine back so wouldn't know

did you catch it on rod and line, if you did this is the first I have heard of one being caught on rod and line.

Prob will be i seen a half eaten one on Shields beach on Thursday afternoon...they seem to like killing them selfs

it was beached, found floundering in the surf, poor b.gger, am having trouble putting up pic, manage attachments keeps failing but got 3 pics to show!

did you catch it on rod and line, if you did this is the first I have heard of one being caught on rod and line.

Sorry I caught it by hand when it beached about a yard from where I stood

no this was 13/11/09 I threw it back as it was very much alive. didn't know what it was but got all the answers off this site

Yep ray bream and a nice one at that, the 2 i have seen not been that size.

They dont look like they should be in our waters do they

hello NE1, look more like southern waters fish, but looks like there have been a few washed up on our coast, going off the reports on this forum, do you boat lads net any I wonder, and as said in my earlier report has anyone tasted it!, cos am ganna try it! a canny 5lber for nowt

Found this one this morning on Marsden beach still alive but the seagulls had been at it.

Pity you didn't get it clean and kicking Davy, tasted it last nite m8, its lush!:calim:, just needed a squeeze of lemon juice, but av got sum canny fillets to try sometime tastes a bit like macky but not quite as strong
