Had a weekend up the isle of whithorn
I headed over the hill to the back of the white monument and scaled down a few rocks and within minutes of my lrf rod with a jig head and rag hitting the bottom produced a ballan wrasse of around 1 1/2-2lb
ballan1.jpg
Kept getting knocks for the next 30 mins or so but they were stripping my rag straight off but kept at it and lifted another out which i believe is a corkwing wrasse as it has the black spot just before the tail..here is a couple of pics of it..the black spot can be seen better on the brighter 2nd pic

I headed back not long after for some food and a bit rest before my night session on the night with the bigger rods..wasnt much action and surprisingly the dogfish didnt show up...A double shot of small codling which i didnt get a picture of then a nice little pollock shortly after

The next day i headed out again on the night to the same little jetty hoping the doggies would be there and my second cast sure enough

Then went quiet after just a couple of small knocks so headed back, The next day i headed to Monreith beach hoping for a bass but only stayed an hour or so as the tide pushed me back really fast so headed back to the isle to try for some more wrasse this time on isome and within minutes of my first drop

No success on the float or spinners but still had a good time even though the fishing wasnt great...hopefully Etive in the summer will be better

Great stuff Chris, sounds like some great fishing, looking forward to getting over there soon. Looks like a corkwing to me mate but I'm no expert.

Great report m8. We always stay at Galloway house estate and I always manage to slip away and fish that same spot it's a cracking fishin mark. What was weather like.

Great report Chris lovely fish especially the wrasse a big weldone mate where did you stop and how much as I'm thinking of heading up with the family for a break

Great report with some lovely wrasse, bet they put a bend in the rod.

I think I'll be heading over the west coast for some sessions this summer.
