right if you want a (surprisingly) serious answer.. to break anywhere like even and get the printing costs back, you'll need about 1000 subscribers willing to pay around 2 quid each, (printing any less would cost virtually the same) or derivatives thereof(500 @ £4), that give you something nice and shiny and colourful running to between 24 and 36 pages
some of those costs are traditionally met by advertising (anyone want to sell ads??) most main stream publications run on a percentage split of 60/40 ads versus editorial (either way!) the more ads you can sell, the more pages you can fill with editorial the less you can charge
Editorial is the easy bit
Cut my teeth on the 'boards' laying out/editing small run mags many years ago, be canny to give it a go.
Taught Felix Dennis (and Richard Neville - obviously frightened him though as he went back to Orstralia immediately after and had never returned (or paid his invoices)) everything they know about publishing layout. I think it only fair to point out that felix dennis no longer speaks to me either as I was a:sick in his maserati and b: owe him £7000 (got really good excuses for both neither are publishable however)
The world needs another Oz/International Times albeit with a potentially fishy hint
bring it on
