We are fishing for Durham Police. Its a bit hard to believe i have only been back to angling for my third season and i,m up against some top notch anglers.Looking forwards to this one. We have a day match and a night time match.I will be using advice and tactics picked up from fishing and from the forum. Cheers Guys.

I stayed in Kent for a while, the sea angling was rubbish - did live in Maidstone at the time though :red:

Say hello to Hastings for me, had some strange times there and later in life used to escape from South London to Whitstable quite regularly - Oysters Mmmmmmmmmm. Remember asking for for 2 pints and a coke in that pub right on the beach - got 2 pints and the lass behind the bar went rummaging in the bin and gave me a "cork" :o

Good luck mick - if you don't win it lock a few locals up :D

lots of beers in the south east and north east prices dont go together lol

the 2 beers and a coke would not get much change from a tenner these days

no wonder they dont turn out till after 9.30 on a night

good luck in the comp and remember to take a local fish size guide for down there :)

£3 a pint isnt that expensive in this day and age.

I should really get involved in the Northumbria sea fishing section. I just find it hard to bring myself to have anything to do with the sports and social club as i dont think its ran very fairly, ie they wouldnt pay a few quid for the majority to have sky telly in the bait room but they give a fortune to the few who go out and shoot clay pidgeons!

Ian,

I know pubs who want to show sky have to pay summit daft like £16k per year, maybe it's the same if you wanna show it in canteens etc.

its more than normal houses but it is not that much. But then again theres probs 500 staff in Gateshead all in all paying a couple of quid a month.Im sure they could afford it lol

Good luck ,

I remember fishing for Mackerel at a caravan site in Hastings just down from a power station when I was a kid, shingle beach with a sudden drop off, casting literally 10 feet out and bringing a full house back in everytime, classic :D.

I,ve only ever fished in a couple of compos before. The first was when i was a lad up at Gourock in Scotland. Remember Jim Dobie was on the bus.

I cast out a canny distance and my line was only 10 feet out. Water was that deep-never caught out either.

Move on 30 years and its with the police compos. Sandsend was my first real effort. Really enjoyed that. Lad next to me caught a sea trout. Top weather and good craic.
I struggled a bit on this one but did not blank-nice coalie saved my day.

Mick.

Mick ask peter morgan hes got the inside info but appears to be deflecting the thread to beer prices LOL :p

Sorry peter but you ll have to spill your guts to our friends from Durham. Dont forget to mention the 8/0 hooks and short casts with apple and tapeworm cocktail!;)
