I've only had any luck fishing King Eddy's when the sea was fairly calm. And if it's that calm tehn Oxfauld at high water or Scotia and Castle Rocks at low water are usually better than the beach itself.
Although, one night I had a tremendous bite off the beach there and struck into a solid weigh. You know the expression about thinking you’ve snagged the bottom until it starts to move? Well it started to move and over what seemed like ages I managed to winch the monster in, sometimes gaining line sometimes seeing it strip back off the reel into the darkness. By this time my mates were interested and instead of the usual micky taking were offering encouragement. All went well until I managed to beach the monster, which turned out to be a railway sleeper.
