Me and Tom fancied a session up the west coast for a change so yesterday's trip was arranged a few weeks ago. It also got cancelled and rearranged countless times due to the weather forecast. We decided to not be bothered about the weather and just go for it, got to brighouse bay caravan park for 9:30 and was on our first mark by 9:50 after taking a short cut there.
It wasn't long before Tom and myself was into fish. Of course the usual suspects of dogfish, but that's what we went over for, the sport of some dogfish. Don't know why people don't like them, they're great fun.
The rain was horrendous and made getting to the mark difficult on the black rocks. Plenty more fish came in but we fancied a change of mark. Do off we went to another shot and this was even harder to get too again there was dog fish but not as many.the rain stopped off for a couple of hours and made the fishing more comfortable We got back to the car at 7:30 absolutely soaked to the skin everything was drenched. Good job for a spare set of clothes. Best bait was squid but mackerel bluey and mussel caught fish aswell.
Also tried spinning for a few pollock but to no avail did hook into something small but it came off. The day was topped off with deciding to try and catch a dogfish on my 10-30g spinning rod and surprise surprise I did just that canny scrap on very light tackle. Made my day that did
We ended up with around 12 dogfish
