went out fishing yesterday fed up moving plotter to get rid of glare and also small screen so had a look around my list of unused computer parts and found 1laptop with broken screen a wireless mouse and a 17 inch lcd monitor with power supplies, removed laptop screen just had bottom part of laptop connected monitor worked a treat, cut ends of power supply off connected to a 12volt battery also worked a treat worked solid on a 3/4 charge small car battery for over 7 hours without recharge installed plotter software also worked champion all done trying on boat today in theory should be able to connect laptop to gps through nmea connection on chartplotter for gps signal if not an external usb gps will be fine im sure post some pics later

It's all way over my head, so all I can say is, i'm impressed. Does it work the same as a stand alone plotter with go too and tracking etc.

much better split screen with same map zoom in 1 dont zoom the other waypoints simple right click and new waypoint anyplace edit put long and lat then right click to active and away you go follow the line

Nice job mate, I want to do something simlar myself.
I was looking at the touch screen tough books, but yours seems a lot cheaper and just as effective option.
