Launched at 8-30am and headed off whitley near Yellow can and put the anchor down, only to find hardley any tide pull. Fished for 10 mins, but nowt, so tried a short move, again nothing, so decided to try over a wreck not too far away, but the breeze that was blowing from the north west made the drift too fast, so we, thats Ken and me decided to anchor over the wreck.
Soon as the anchor got a hold, we were both into fish me with a cod about 4lb which I lost on the serface attempting to lift into the boat by the trace............DOH! will ever learn, slipped the hook and floundered on the surface drifting away, and as we were anchored could only watch as it eventually dived back to the wreck.
We caught a few cod best by Ken up to 6lb. We decided to have one drift over the wreck then head in, as the breeze was again freshening. Good tug on my rod and I struck into a good fish, knowing it could only be one, as I lost a hook on the previouse drop.
About 30 ft up, the fish crash dived back for the safety of the wreck pulling line against the clutch furiously, but after a bit of persuasion, it finally broke surface about 20 yards astern, only then realising it was a large pollock.
What a way to end a session, it turned the scales at Allen Charlton's at 13lb-4ozs, by far my pb, pollock. Chuuuuuuuuuuuuuuufed
Some pics to follow after uploading to photobucket then here.
