leader question

hi lads ive noticed a few lads adding a little length of line aprox6 inches in between there shock leader and main line on the real wats this for is it making the knots stronger or something else cheers Peter

Av seen this before it could be a wedge knot it gives u twice the strength

its a lenght of wire with a knot at each end could it be insted off going from say 18lb to 60lb do they add abit of 30 lb line inbetween for stronger knots or sommit else

Probably a Spider Hitch knot which gives a loop of line at the knot. So strong that usualy your main line snaps at the Reel lol.

Sounds like a Bimini Twist shock leader knot, this has a knot either side of it, and can be of around the same length.

It's a Bimini twist mate it's all I use on my reels acts as a spring when line is under tension. And the best knot for shockleader and lifting fish!
