When i got back in today i noticed quite a bit water under the engine. I left the engine running and on looking over the top of the engine, there is water dripping badly from the water pump, think its called a Jabsco.
Anyone know about these , the engine is a Nanni 85HP, are they expensive , they certainly look a swine to get at...:(

Hi mate,

I had the exact experience a few years ago (will try and dig a few pics out) it was the bearing race inside the pump that had collapsed.
I ended up getting a new pump complete (about £150-£200 if I remember correctly but that depends on model)
I did strip down the old one but found that there was some damage inside (along with the extra damage I caused trying to knock the bearing cage out) and that it would have cost as much to replace the bearings/seals and impeller as it would to buy a new one complete.
This happened to me in the cold of winter so I was unsure whether it was simply wear and I`d not noticed the leak or in fact if it had been Ice formed in the bearings then crushed with engine starts.
Been fine since new replacement, but I do keep a check for tell tale leaks.

Good luck

Thanks for that, it looks like its leaking from the shaft from what i could see, i'm going to try and take it off tomorrow and get the numbers off it, where is the nearest place to get a new pump

I got mine from Powerhouse Marine but as keith says if theres no damage to the body and the shaft then best look around first for spare seals and bearings. Not a difficult job to strip down and mine luckily was more or less on the top of the engine so not too bad to get to.

was in there yesterday, having a good old rummage around the darkest recesses - my idea of heaven been left to hunt around for a bit.

Yeah, nothing organised in there, but that makes it all the more interesting. Saw your ad for a trailer, what sort of boat are you bringing down from scotland ?

Might be able to help you out with a trailer, i've got a rollercoaster 3, twin axle, its a breaked trailer but all the brake parts are in a box, in my garage, as they sieze up when left in the drums, dunno if you're any good at assembling brakes or you could just use it unbraked.......

oohhh.. .be more than happy to rebuild the brakes for you for a loan of it for a weekend plus whatever suitable recompense/widgets/beer tokens I can push your way :):)

Ain't this post just what forums like this are all about ....... well done lads.

and all the best to everyone looking in for the coming new year .....
