Going to put winter rods away after this weekend could do with light rods to target plaice , flounders , dabs and even rays now any ideas something that won't brake the bank balance which is nearly zero due to wedding funds draining it lol

Off top of my head matey

For £250 ish the new Shimano Aspire 130 AX Surf is the best light rod ive tried and owned.

For £100 - 150 you will pick up a nice second hand flattie fantanic or Tip Tornado Ultra light or greys platnum bass

For £50 the shakespear salt rods have a loyal following.... or the Sonic SK3 bass are availible for that prioce or less second hand.

I have been looking for similar mate.

People might shoot me down for this but i have been leaning towards a heavy spinning rod so I can use it as an all rounder, bit of light bait/ spinning/ lure. Plaice, flounder, dabs etc. dont need a big cast as we all know. The lighter the rod the better the sport. Have been looking at the Greys Sea Spin 11ft around £95 and getting either a 2500 or 4000 size fixed spool

I use a penn rampage and surf blaster with braid for the summer mick. Nice and bendy for the smaller fish. You can get the rod and reel for£170.

I have a shakey agility, perfect condition, rod bag inc...tried to sell it a few month back but no offers
See my threads created for pics m8
It's basically a shakey salt

Ha ha. Sorry mate. You never said how cheap. I thought it was worth throwing in when I seen ttld suggested.

Mick I have a Shakespeare endeavour 9ft with a 2nd hand Shimano 500 baitrunner. Cost me less than £60 for the pair. Great combo, fishing is fantastic fun on light gear and won't break the bank.

well it doesent cost nothing for a bit banter {fun}.just pleased no offence taken.ps, so i gather your dad makes a good pan of soup.you can be proud of him.marra.

Afaw light estuary, very light n a beautifull action, use mine with a sml fxd spool with braid,u sure know when u get a good u'n on:o:D
Always s/hand option:)

Some of the century carbon metal range are spot on mate. Just picked up a carbon metal express from jarrowdisco and Fishfingers is busy cleaning it up for me. They are classed as mixed ground rods but are plenty soft enough to have some good fun on the piers for a decent fish and can put a weight a long way. The CME and 3c ld are both spot on.... Ot if your after something lighter do as mark says, grab a tt ultra lite!

Ive got a 15ft shakey salt extreme surf u can borrow for a few sessions mick if u want. U can cast 2 to 8oz plus big bait nee bother n see a guppy fart on the tip
