Has anyone ever fished this area as im thinking about going over some time.Im after as much info as possible as not to blank my main target will be Spurdogs and Rays as i have never caught these before. Thanks in advance

ive never fished it from the shore nicky but i used to take my boat and anchor on one of the bouys over the mussel beds and we would catch allsorts in the summer. we took loads of spurs on daylights baited with sandeel and we took a few rays on squid baits in june.
in the shallower water towards the bridge we caught gurnard.
there was a lad renting boats out from taynuilt for £35 a day.not sure if hes still doing it mind. its a lovely place to fish when you get the weather.theres loads of doggies too , we seemed to catch either one or the other (ie dogs or spurs) the rays are a little more scarce .
theres also mackeral ,pollock and codling believe it or not.ive never caught a codling myself up there but the bro in-law got one about 6lb i think a couple of years back.
you will not blank.

Fished it once, got nothing, but there were a couple of Thornies caught and you get a good run of Spurs. Apparently fishes better during the winter months (?). This could be something to do with the midges that eat you alive during the summer months :D

i should of mentioned this the first time but if your prepared to drive an extra 30 odd mile from oban up alongside loch linnhe you eventually come to a little place called kentallen where you will find a row of about 8 pointy chalets and a hotel/restaurant.
in front of this is a little stone pier and slip. if you cast straight out the end of the pier you are straight into deep water where youwill get rays and doggies from the shore. again the thornies like the squid.
there is also a little track which you can walk down past the chalets with a few nice spots to chuck a line.
the thing i like about fishing these lochs is the chance of hooking something a bit special as theyre full of surprises.
id be tempted next time i go up to hoy a big mackeral flapper down the side of the rocks. etive has been known to throw up conger too but they must be targeted.

Drive up to Taynuilt and on to Connel Bridge take ya first right just off the bridge, pass by some nice houses on the small windy road, come to Ardchattan Priory, you can fish here.mackeral/squid/sandeel are best put some decent mono on ya snoods as they sometimes get chomped off,a few small glow beads on the rig will work wonders.
If you wish to fish deeper water carry on along the road till you hit the entrance to Bonawe quarry drive slowly thru the quarry till you are stopped by the gate and it\'s a 15 min walk from here, belter of a spot to fish 200 ft straight down when you arrive at the spot there is a biggish tree and sloping rocks with mussel farm around the vicinity same tactics and it\'s amazing the variety sizes of the fish here..beware of midges in the warmer wetter months they will kill you.
