Hello,
Today it is 25 years since Pan Am flight 103 was blown up over Lockerbie with the loss of 270 lives, eleven of those were from Lockerbie.
I was only 22 at the time and I was fishing daft, I can remember driving across to Balcary and seeing the RAF mountain rescue landrovers on my way there and I didn't know what had happened.....I had left work and headed straight over in my car.....someone at Balcary told me if I remember.
No mobile phones or internet then, it was also the year my Dad died. Isn't it funny how you remember some times and periods quite clearly despite it being so long ago.
Anyway my thoughts are with the relatives on this day.

Regards Ian

One of my friends was originally from Lockerbie and I remember how devastated she was. We were speaking about it yesterday.

I was 21 and looking forward to my daughters first birthday and xmas I was sat feeding her when it came on the tv I don't suppose it will ever get any easier for those who lost loved ones

I will never forget those pictures on television of the cockpit on its side thinking those poor soles I worked for Scottish and Newcastle breweries at the time I was 27 and will never forget driving on the a74 on the thurs after the crash on my way to Glasgow and seeing the smoke from the crash as I passed it really hit home the devastation that day god rest there soles

Fate can be very cruel

Fate can be very cruel

Worked and travelled with three guys as a squad offshore in 1990/91/92...first one lived in Lockerbie was on his leave sat in his living room when the plane at the time came down in the next street.Second jumped off the helideck into the sea at night to survive Piper Alpha, third was knocked back as last booked passenger off the Cormarent Alpha helicoptor flight as it was over weight,5 minates later that flight nose dived into the north sea in the dark with many casualties. All of them tried to get on with life after these traumatic incidents. All pained every day l saw with their demons and probably still do but they loved life and looked after junior here,me,lm still here respecting them and life as we all should do at this time of year.

Despite lifes troubles always someone got more, than me, you, may we all be blessed with a trouble free great New Year 2014.

I lived about 5 miles away at the time and will never forget seeing a massive ball of flames on the horizon and the tiles being shaken off the house roof when the wing hit Sherwood Crescent. It feels like yesterday. I was 17.

It was a proper old fashioned market town and it was devastated by the whole event.

Its a miracle that so few locals were killed as the main impact passed just over a housing scheme and landed on a quiet bungalow street on the outskirts of town.

We had our land searched over the following few days as bodies were strewn over such a massive area.

My heart always goes out to the families of these events but none more than those who perished in the Lockerbie disaster.
