Anyone fished lower tyne in the past week, might be going there wed night to use up last of weekend bait.Any info appreciated, anyone fancy it? Thinking of fishing last one down, first two up! :D

Where abouts is this? I want to do a bit flattie bashing on light gear come the summer and was going to fish the Tyne or Wear. Is this a good spot for this? What else can be caught in estuaries (if anything) as I\'ve never done that sort of fishing before.

It\'s at the entry to the Tyne Mog, For Flatties try the beach to the left of south shields pier or have heard Newcastle quayside is good espiecally behind the Copthorne Hotel :D

the smalll beach next to the middens ,the mud flats i think its called ,just drive through from the fish quay past the warehouses etc and parknfish more or less

supposed to throw up some quite impressive flatties from what ive heard

Try Alnmouth,Embleton,Warkworth Beach, the mouth of the Wansbeck and Blyth Harbour for flatties

Dont know about these days but I used to catch loads at the above locations (and Sandy Bay) on light gear spinnning close in with a baited flattie spoon or mep

Can you still get to that beach Bribones mate ? I\'m sure it\'s blocked off as they are building works there!

I\'ve seen some big flatties caught on the middens beach at high water in the summer. Maccy or herring strip was the killer bait. Plenty of rats there as well (both the rockport shoe and adidas trakky bottoms type as well as the long tailed variety!!). The inlet to the covered area of the fish quay at N.Shields also holds flatties, casting to the far wall and slowly retrieving works well. No snags which is rare for the fish quay.

we went down about 3 weeks ago and you could still get into the carpark as johnf says it throws up some corkers during the summer

the only downside is the smell and the flies, aye and watch out for the rats lol if your night fishing if you leave your bait out they will have it away first chance they get best to keep your box closed, never had any bother with the 2 legged ones and the cars in plain sight so you can keep an eye on it

the fish quay is also a good spot we fish behind the pub beside the flats casting slightly upriver onto clean ground, weve had flatties to about 1lb from there with plenty smaller ones

Hi Bri mate, how do you get into the carpark, cos when I was there it was all blocked off. Mind you it was dark and I couldn\'t see properly, or am I going to the wrong carpark :(
Fished lower tyne the other night and caught nowt but there were some small codling taken by others!!! ;)

have a look down during the day ,but saying that theres been a lot of work going on along the quay so it might be blocked now but the carpark goes right along the front along to the prominade at the far end so you cant miss it we normaly park up next to the building thats fenced off and fish the rocks next to the wavebreaker/timber thing or the beach at high water
