Lucky escape scott. I was fishing Steetly pier on friday night and the waves were actually crashing down on us from above. I didn't feel in any danger though although there's a huge hole in the pier which we could have been swept in to if there was a wave twice their size. I remember a rogue wave gitting us at craster and when it came up the rocks up to my waist I just stood planted as didn't want to move either foot to keep a tighter hold. I was ok and so was my gear but the rest of the lads all got gear swept away. The thought that were going through my head at the time would have been similar to yours though. Not good at all. I'm a lot more aware now to say the least

thank god you are ok scott. it happened to me on the tanks but i never lost my gear it just washed me and me gear along the wall never fish there since and that was 5 years ago.

Pleased your ok Scott. The nearest i have been to going in was when i was a young lad fishing off Middleton over 30 years ago. The end used to be bevelled. I was handballing a fish in for a guy and slipped on the bevell. I jumped back like a cat on a hot tin roof. It was a dark winters night-long before we had floatation suits. If i,d gone in it would have been curtains.
I have only fished Hendon once and we were near the place where some flowers were tied onto the railing by the ramp. Think a couple of kids died there couple of years ago.
I do not know where pensioners spot is - has anyone a photo-so i know to stay away.
I would invest in a floaty suit-warm as toast-waterproof and well you never know it might one day pay for itself. I have a sundridge cost £60 e-bay.

Pleased you're ok Scott.

I've fished Pensioners many a time in big seas and it is a scary place. Like has said on here before, there is literally nowhere to run.
