Lunker Time ?

Well as we all know it approaching that time of the year when the nights are starting to close in and the early starts are getting later !!
And we are supposed to getting stuck into some Lunkers?.....
Big baits big hooks but not a sight as yet ! Had one or two on for a min or so !,are they a thing of the past now? or have we caught them all ?
Same Wks are getting hammered day in day out ! May have another look in my little black book handed down thru generations and covered in big ling scales !!!

Still lots out there jsut need a nice slow drift over slack and a chance to get away from the small 4-6lb ling then a few bigger ones will pop up.

Lots of fresh bait out there Norm ! The tigers are still around for another 2 month yet Keith and myself had stacks the weekend on the 3 mile

I'm guessing you mean the mackerel Norman? Is it usual for them to go this early ?

Every year the times they arrive and leave change, this year has been a very poor year from the shore with mackerel shoals building up between the 2mile and 6mile mark in great numbers but not really hitting the shores.

Some years you can catch the mackerel from the piers the back end of Oct but i have on record some years when they stopped mid July. Alot depends on what wind direction we have and how much rain we have, at the moment the water is coca cola for about 2miles off shore reducing the amout of mackerel rom the piers.

Unless we get a really bad spell, as Bert said they should be around on the boats until at leastt he last week in September and maybe later on to mid Oct.

Norman, thats only enough for a sandwich. Bob have I not mentioned I like mackerel before, just to let you all know i love mackerel, yes Bert, hint, hint, nudge, nudge wink wink.

Whats confussing? 9 mackerel caught in a days fishing not many out there at the moment.
