Lure Fishing Challenge 2011

Just ugly as sin, my wife thinks they're cute. Get some nice breeding colours on them, but that makes them look all the more less like something you'd want to touch!

Off the starting line at last, using my little home made lure/fly thing with a couple of split shots to help it sink and dance in the water... Went down Seaton Sluice with the lightest gear I've got and... Scorpions/Bullheads!

Face only a mother could love:

2nd catch - can someone ID whether these are seperate's please (ie short and long spined?), I'm assuming both the same with different colourations, but anyone confirm?

First had a lovely blue belly to it with the dark green back, 2nd was all the mottled red's with more prominent spotting to the fins.

Annoyingly missed a small blenny that spat the hook back out and took cover somewhere.

Same species i think mate, well done this is one i'm hoping to catch but i think they will prove difficult, may stand you in good stead. will update the table now.

nice one 5150;) seen u today down the sluice

also planning on catchin one on lures but as phil said i also was thinking they might prove a pain to catch:mad:

although have had them when spinning for macky etc, thet have a canny size gob on them like:D

Nah, mate, they're agressively greedy, just need to think about where you're more likely to catch micro species, still takes a bit of a knack to catch them fair on a lure - danced mine around so it looked like a little shrimp and it did the job. Been plugging around Sluice now a few times with no joy though, I'm goosed for getting down there nice and early though in the mornings with no car at the moment, gonna have to dig the pedal bike out I guess.

Decided to head out to Beadnell thismorning with Phill for a sunday sesh. and glad to say... were at the top of our table... I'm above cause I caught my 2nd species first! started off with my pollock.

After no more fish from the big skeer we moved a couple of times. Phill left me with the bags and swanned off somewhere.

His moving resulted in 2nd place on the table with a lance for starters.

After some loud shouting of carl I decided to push on and moved to steal his spot!
Which resulted in him getting more:( than me lol
this is his coalie...

Aye, nice little sesh, ended up with 1 launce and 4 coalie, caught on silver spinners with a couple of shrimp teasers.

And a relief to get off the mark on my 4th sesh with lures lol

Cheers bud, seems I need more than luck lol I blanked but will learn from it. Takes a bit of getting used to using light gear with lures, as opposed to beach gear.
