Hopefully get out some time next week probably not Sunday, you can bet a million quid there will be one out fishing who will say your too early for spinning you'll catch nowt its guaranteed.

They could well be right, it was well into April when I got my first on a lure last year, pretty sure elsid managed one for the comp very early.
But yeah im out, picking up a few lads off here and heading over the border for the day.

Just checked lasst years results, the first fish was caught by elsid on the 3rd of April, a nice pollock at Duns Castle. My first wasnt until the 24th april :~

The fish are there all year round Phil, its just ignorance from us anglers to think that spinning is a spring/summer time only species. Have a read of this I dunno if you read it already, this lad experimented throughout the winter spinning with lures with cracking results, not sure I would want to try spinning in winter upto my chest in water lol.

Wow fascinating article Pete. It's amazing the fish can see the lures in the dark. I'm going to have to try this.

Yeah mate they say to use a dark lure in darkness and a light lure in bright conditions, it creates a silhouette effect. I dunno if adding luminous beads etc would affect it much, that lads article certainly opened my eyes to lure fishing that's for sure.

We ended up fishing the outflow at Torness but nothing doing mate. Spoke to a few locals who said nothing had been caught during daylight since last Sunday. Looks a canny spot like.
