Lure fishing Tenerife - anyone done it?

Dont be fooled by the fishing trips, they promise big fish Tuna etc but its very rare anyone catches, (been going to Teneriffe for years, Easter and Summer) the locals use prawns from the rocks and piers but never seen anyone use lures! also they tend to fish the beaches at dusk, watched 1 guy for about an hour playing a fish on the beach and it turned out to be a Ray the size of a bin lid. This was from Los Chritianos beach.

Ill have to find out where as the missus booked it up, I'm not planning on any boat trips, more like beaches and rocks when the missus and bairn are on the beach.

Plenty of sport from the concrete pier in los christianos with bait tho never tried spinning and only small stuff. Did catch a small octopus there tho ;)

If you can take any heavier gear over try livebaiting/deadbaiting with mullet (catch them on bread on small hooks). I got smashed off deadbaiting at Los Christianos many years ago.

If it's anything like Mainland Spain and the Balearics (and I believe it is) you need a licence to fish the shore, so check on local requirements.

You might get away with it. I did on the Balearics when I thought it was the same as here, but if the patrol cops you, you'll lose your gear and I get the impression they are tightening up.
