Fished Lyneburn with fellow member JUSTCHIPS today, canny southerly on and good sea running,But blanked, not a sniff from 2hrs either side of high tide

I've fished Lynemouth with some canny results but not Lyneburn ,mind you I remember some good bags coming off there a few years back , if the reports were correct .

wrong time of the tide ? sea anglers advice was
A steep shelving beach that gives way to deep water fairly close in. Its a great venue to produce fish almost all year at any state of the tide. Most anglers prefer to fish it on an ebbing tide and over low water, especially after a blow in a dying sea. It fishes equally well in daylight as in darkness because the water is contstantly coloured form years of coal waste tipping. This venue is recognised as a Cod venue from September through to February with the chance of some big bags. Dropping a bait close can produce odd Bass. Summer produces good cathes of flatfish including Plaice, Dabs and flounders, while late spring can also thow up the odd Thornback ray. Cast at long range during a big swell to avoid a rig wash out, but generally anything in excess of 60 yards will put you among the fish.
hope this help's :)

I fished at the crosswaters last saturday with a few chums on that monstrous low-tide (just to check out the lie of the land really, see where all the holes were) - turned into a day long session about 10.30am till 8.30pm. Never had a bite till about 6.30 pm, just after the high tide, then started getting 12 inch coalies & had one flattie. Friends got much the same along with one small codling.

I was fishing 2 rods; one with crab plopped between 40-100yds & got nowt on that, all fish came to plain old ragworm blasted out at long range. Nevermind, got a good look at the beach - never seen the sea go that far back! Oh, and got a real red neck as well!:D

Cheers, Gary :)

fished that beach pretty much every week last winter, sept - jan, don't think i've ever caught anything there.. maybe i'm just not very good. I've seen cod caught from there so it's obviously possible, not sure what the secret is though..
