Its hard to belive mate, but its not impossible. They seem to be getting earlier and earlier every year :)

But ill keep my eyes open, if i can see a dated picture i would belive it. Earliest ive seen them is start of april so not impossible. I mean they are already populating loch etive...

If its true then great :) Means i can go and get some and go plaice fishing from my yak :D

will be having a trip down roker early hours once they are in, armed with me fly rod and me spinning rod, sport not slaughter

What forum is the report on

same old same old...

same old same old...

same thread every year, quick thought though, if you don't like fishing the busy piers - then don't, nobody is forcing you, there are plenty of quieter marks (more picturesque also)where the mackerel will be, also if it's only the so called "chavs" who make all the mess on the piers in the summer, who makes all the mess over the winter...

you are bang on there mate

Ram a balsa Dowell into a defrosted sandeel, put on a 10, 15ft snood, use an up and over rig, with an impact sheild. Pick any nice chav free mark, and blast it to the horizon. I've caught mackerel like this, and its pretty good fun.
