where at i havent had one yet around hartlepool area spinning and float fishing what are the best conditions for them to come in shore do they come in to spawn or are they just after food just wondering the seas got a bit of colour where around hartlepool bit of a surf running
Turkey Gary, had a few days over there with she who must be obeyed. I heard they were being caught on the boats big time but havn\"t heard much about the shore.
Chris I heard a while ago a few were pulled from the huegh down your way you will catch them from any of your piers they come in to feed just fish as light as possible for best results. It is too easy to stick half a dozen feathers on and rake them in. A light bass rod or spinning rod and a bright lure or spinner is all that\"s needed.
not showing here at the Blyth end yet I got to the pier most days with the dogs but nowt doing, when the kids are on their school holidays then Blyth Pier will fish it\'s socks off, patience my man patience.
THEY CANT BE FAR AWAY FROM BLYTH AS WE ARE GETTING THEM ON THE BOATS JUST OFF BUT TWO TIDES NEVER THE SAME AT THE MINUTE JFK ONLY HAD 12 ON SUNDAY AND YET WEVE HAD LOADS MOST DAYS
fished blyth pier sunday mate had a 2 1/2 pound plaice i got 2 small flattys ...tried for mackerel but nothing showed and none caught a few ppl caught a few sandeels and small coalies ...the best fun we had was watching the little sprats swimming next to the pier and being chased by the sandeels n coalies ..trying again on saturday if i can get out that is
We had nonoe on suaday from the boat, i got 2 from south shields pier last thursday night. There is alot of colour in the water and all the bait fish are holding about 2miles of shore.
All the female mackerel have row in them so i think they must feed up then spawn inshore..not sure mind.
I agree with Gary....3hrs up 30mins down is what i have always fished for them...this is because i like abit of tide rip for the spinners but during july they will/should be caught all tide round.
Cheers peeps good information as usual. It is always apreciated by us inlanders lol as it can save quite a bit of time and money in driving about the coast.
Plenty on South Shields pier - just got back the heaviest being 1lb 14oz gave a canny scrap on light gear- fell to daylites but i also got some on a dexter wedge so whatever takes your fancy me thinks. hope this helps bring you to the coast.
Ians\' mate Craig took part in the RNLI Comp last month (1st time he\'d fished from a boat). He became known on the boat as \"mackeral man\". He must\'ve pulled in around 40 or 50. When I met up with him & Ian after the comp, he looked like a \'70s pop star - I thought he was covered in glitter with all those scales to him.......lol
