mackerel fishing

hi guys erm you know when your fishing for mackerel what size rod do yous use i tend to use a 10ft rod so its easier to handle would yous suggest using my 14ft or stick with 10ft?

9 or 10ft 30-60grms rod is perfect. a more power full rod may be needed if planning a mackerel massacare using daylites

6-7' spinning rod, spinner with 2 daylights at most, but usually just the spinner.

Crimp the barbs and/or drop to a single hook for catch and release. Don't like using a big beach-caster with a huge line of daylights unless I'm stocking up on bait, no sport when there's 6 of them on heavy gear, whereas one on light kit with the drag on the reel wound back is pure pleasure.

Sounds more like a boat rod using somethin that short. if i wanted to use something that small ad use one of those pocket fishing rods!!

thats the proper way to spin for maki using a short spinning rod thats sport for you, gets the best out of the maki and gives them a chance to get away crimping the barb on a single hook try it sometime you might enjoy

ive tried that when a was in portinaxt in ibiza last summer got a few decent sized mullet each weigh aboot 3 - 4lb
