I was the one in the red coat...Pig and Whistle 1997...those were the days (sighs)...

Seriously though - I'm looking forward to the macky coming for the sport on light tackle (and they're also damn fine eating)...but the lowlifes that it drags out of their smack houses gets me down...did see one potentially get blood poisoning last year (through being spiked by a rusty treble)...which made me feel better :)

Best ask Mr Charlton because none of the boat that i know of have reported any mackerel yet so be very supprised if they catching from the shore in our area.

Fished 3hrs Monday off Souter and tried for them with no luck just caught codling and coalie.

I fished Roker pier on Saturday from 1pm to 6pm with spinners and feathers. There was nothing about, all that was caught were a couple of flatties off the end the whole time I was there.

haver heard tales they are getting them at Sth Shields, Seaham, Steetley and Roker, but as yet no mackerel reported from boats, except well off by commercials.
