the boat has gone. John had a John Wayne hull fitted (by
cowboys), the gel coat collapsed in 2007 and was repaired, since then the
hull strengtheners have come away from the structure and the deck has
lifted making the boat unseaworthy and it has been "scrapped"-either sold
on for a new hull or to an insurance company. John has not been seen for
3 weeks either at the marina or the smallcrafts and no one can phone him.

The following is all speculation-he has declared himself bankrupt-unlikely
since he has the money from the boat-more likely he has a ltd co, for the
boat and that has been wound up. He has done a runner with the money is
another theory never to be seen again. Apparently he has been operating
the boat without insurance anyway as it was declared unseaworthy a long
time ago. I am not sure about any legalities but would suspect that
anyone who has paid money as a deposit can kiss it.

not quite right alan when john bought the boat he had a a engineer check it out before he got his mojage and the guy failed to note the thin spots in the hull (quite a few)the boat builder has now bought the boat back and give john some money back .john has now bought a private boat a aqua fisher 23

is that an engineer check it out or a surveyor?? an engineer sounds a bit suss

for his COP for charter use it needs to be a Surveyor from the MCA

if it wasn't MCA he was operating ilegally

now if they didn't not spot a major fault in the construction, they are legally libale for any costs he's incurred as a result of it. Thye should have professional indemnity insurance to cover this

so if the thing was falling to bits and they failed to spot that, either when/if he hd a survey when he bought it, and again when it was surveyed for his commercial COP, the surveyor is liable
