Marks database....

just wondering if theres any appetite out there for a database of marks that users can add to themselves?? I know there was some comprehensive info on the old site, and some of it has made it over here. The idea being a simple form to fill in, with the posters name, mark name, coastal area, location, description of the mark and tackle bait recomendations, likely target species and a pic if available.

The other side is a search engine, where you could either select an area of coast or specific locations, or even ask it for specific criteria like species/low water/high water/ etcetctect.

Kinda got the rudiments of the insertion bit already on the upload page if anyone wants to drop any data in??

Great idea m8.I remember a thread earlier on in the year that had a mixed response.I think there was a couple of threads if i\'am not mistaken.

Tony, you were wanting idea\'s to improve the site/forum etc etc, whats the chance of something like this taking shape, its a excellent idea by Mark (not sure if it works or if it was ever tried),you could move the bits out of the \"main site\" into it,you could have them as read only so they would\'nt drift off subject ! just a thought and an old one at that.

I posted quite a few marks on the old board but there were also a number that got the inputs mixed up
eg Directions - slatey gut
Bait - rotten bottom and grip lead
Other than that it was a good idea.

It seems as if most of the ideas now coming, as many have pointed out appertain to info that was on the old board, i myself am quite often asked about the stuff i had on the old board. It seems as if anglers prefered the old board, or is it just a few that are asking for the old info.

\"......it was the accumilation of years of knowledge and work.\"

You\'re right, Alan and I\'m sure the other lads here appriciate that.

I don\'t think the material has been \"lost\" (I hope not, anyway), just that it hasn\'t been transferred to this site. .......I was gonna say \"hasn\'t been transferred to this site, YET\"......but I\'ve just about given up hope of THAT happening.

If you still have the material somewhere Alan, you could copy and paste it into a new topic in Thw Alan Charlton Pages area......That\'s your area on the Board, Alan.....put whatever you like in there. I\'m sure we\'d all look forward to reading it......whatever it may be.

crack off, send weekly reports every week except on the odd occassion when I have a lot on. As for the old stuff will have to give Elton an e mail to see if he will transfer all the old stuff over. Have got it somewhere but will take sometime putting it altogether again.

Tony whats your thoughts on this marks database carry on,you could have it set out in regions and countries ie Scotland Wales Ireland,Marks original plan looked quite easy to follow.

crack off, just had a look at the catch reports, seems as if nothing has gone up since November 2003. Looks as if i have been wasting my time.
