if the butt is the female and as no spigot coming out of it , you can get a socket set , get a socket which will fit inside the but and use it as a floating hammer to knock the tip out

Lovin the sense of humour in the 80, s I guess it was a dural butt u flattened hope the rod, s in2 undamaged sections now

I barely nipped it under the tyre , no damage to the butt at all.

Just did this with a rod. Worked straight away after trying other methods.
