Sounds nasty, he's been lucky not to have been killed.

Think the person who done that is more than a nugget.

He wants his rod wrapped around his neck.

Could happen to anyone even a good angler snapping off and hitting someone with a lead, the lad my have not been a "nugget". I am shocked more anglers dont get hurt both in winter and mainly summer from flying leads and end tackle.

Sounds like he is doing ok anyway if he fished and won the comp :)

Totally agree mate. I was nearly hit in the last open BUT was only annoyed because the lad wasn't using the right set up (shockleader).

hope he is ok i have known him for years a cracking lad and a good angler .

he would pull a cod out of a bath in your house hope he is ok.

he is ok saw him fishing the ryhope comp on tuesday.he has only won the seaham s.a.c. once but he has done the double up of the seaham s.a.c. open then the easington open £3000 in a month.

shock leader

shock leader

shock leader is a length of 50 lb -- 70 lb line 30--- 40 foot long to absorb the power of the of cast so it does not snap when casting which also needs to checked on regular basis for abrasions and week spots due to regular casting which SHOULD BE USED AT ALL TIMES IF MAIN LINE LES THAN 30LB

hope lad that got hit is ok ,a got hit once luckily it was on hand was not able to move fingers for bout an hour and sore for a long time

would you say that, unless you are pendulum casting and there is a chance that your lead and gear might go flying down the beach and damage somebody there really isnt any point in having a shockleader.

shocker

shocker

you would be suprised how many peaple dont use a shockleader i thonk if you dont take all the precautions and have a snap off and your sinker hits somebody you should be done for gbh or if the worst happens manslaughter

I can see the point of a shock leader if your pendulum casting but if your only having an overhead thump then the worst that can happen is you have a crack off and it goes out to sea for a mile or ten and hits a trawler perhaps
