Mid-week

Well since this year god hates the working man i think plan B is to use some of them leave days up and have more mid-week trips, if the weather is kind going to start having 1 day a week off every week during the week in the hope of getting a flat sea.

Also need to use a few days up for when Stingray getting her service and repair done.

Failing that we should all start praying to this man, before we end up in his grip one weekend!!

It's swings and roundabouts I guess Richy , because this year has panned out quite well for me so far , I spent April getting used to the new boat , May getting out when I could but being stopped by the wind which didn't bother me too much as the 20 hour service was due and I didn't want to over run it too much and June so far has seen me take those hours up to 35 , so I'm not complaining :). I have to admit it's so much easier when you're not tied to Saturdays and Sundays , if I can get out once or twice a week I'm happy.
Looks like Wednesday or Thursday so far this week ;)

Since the 1st of May i have 1 day on record with it being a smooth sea, with 7 days called off, 3 days chucked all over and 3 days just fishable....mid week 1 day called off, 4 smooth days and 1 day just fishable.

Well i have checked the weather and with work, going to have a early start on Thursday and make the most of that west wind....wotn be many fish as just oen line in the water but stil nice to get out if flat sea.

Yes Rich, I think a change in tactics is in order. How many times a year and the frustration of the weather changing to "poor" at the weekend happens:confused::(. Trouble is, can you book the next day at a moments notice, plus, often enough, the forecasters get it wrong. What you really need, is a lottery win, then you can go at the drop of a hat.:D:D

Well i am lucky in a way because i can often give 48 hours notice of leave (i just informed them i would like Thursday off but will confirm at 5pm Tuesday :) the down side for me is my normal two crew work so its the unsafe option of going on your own....i know you fish on your own but i just feel stressed all day when i am on my own incase anything happens, cant settle so to speak.

I wish I could get out during the week, but Im working down Leeds until early July. :( I therefore only have the weekends and they're all write-offs lately like you say. 4ft swells predicted this Sat so far, then no incoming swell on Sunday but 33mph westerley gusts?!.. hmmm... not sure how enjoyable that will be!

Still, Im booked up for a trip out on Mistress on 3rd July so fingers crossed that doesn't get called off or I think I might actually cry! ;)

As for going out alone, its not really possible for me anyways (I only ride a motorbike & I can't imagine strapping 2 engines + the rest of the gear to the back of my Ninja! :red: ), but I wouldn't be too comfortable with it even if I could. I know people in the harbour who go out miles in boats smaller than mine by themselves, no radio, no lifejackets, no flares or any sort of emergancy gear.... deathwish? Not my idea of fun, thats for sure!! :o

Anyways, good luck on your midweek trip(s) out. I'm just a little jealous!! :p

All the best.

Steve.

And no its not Alan Charlton because i have not given him any mackerel, he looks move aggressive than that :)

your right there Rich, if it had been me the boat would have been ripped in half, looks as if the weekend demons are going to strike again. Many moons ago you could pick and choose when you went out, you where hardly ever blown off in the summer.

It'll be another weekend of garage & shed clearing for me if I can't get out... joy! :(

Strong westerlies predicted from Sat Morning onwards which I thought would have flattened the sea, yet MSW predicts swells going up to 3ft on Sunday afternoon? Whats the crack there, am I missing something? Sat evening & Sun morning showing as 1ft swells but with 20mph+ westerley gusts so may have a look down Sat night to weigh up the situation in the hope of a 4am Sunday start. :)

Surely this poor weather can't continue much longer? I'll pray to any God for a few good weekends! Maybe even sell my soul to the devil for a double figure cod or two to be thrown in the deal! Haha!

It changes every 6hr update but Magic guess work is the worst site out of any of them IMO not been right for 2 years when i ahve been at sea, dont even check it our days.

I am still planning on the full weekend out, expecting lazy rollers from the south but should be well fishable, know better this time Friday.

Well i am looking forward to fishing Thursday, it is by no means going to be an easy day fishing with tide and wind together for much of my fishing time but i am hoping we can pull out a few bigger fish from the 2 wrecks i am heading for...260ft of water should make things intersting if its a fast drift lol

Will report either way Thursday night...good or bad

Tomorrow’s forecast looks OK, Thunderbirds are go..... I’ll be out there for an after work session; that means finding a fridge and freezer at work to keep the bait in during the day.

Yer sea slight just that wind at 10-11am may make it a hard fast drift but had some cracking days shooting over the wrecks if you can give it abit or revs to keep the lines straight.

Just seen the update on the weather for the weekend, once again its changed and still in limbo but should eb good for the Sat at least.

Set myself a target of a double cod before the end of the month since not ahd a double cod yet this year its all been double ling.

I'm out tomorrow as well , don't know yet whether it'll be 3.30am or 10.30am when I set off , but either way I'll be out at least 8 hours weather permitting,I'd like an early start but no alarm clocks , so all depends what time I wake up :D
