always hapy

always hapy

the staff at billys is always happy and give out plenty info. between me and steve there is over 80 years experience and we do not mind sharing it.
I must admit i had a customer today who i spent 45 mins explaining the type of gear he needs to start sea fishing, for him to tell me he was buying a reel of ebay for 0.99.
This type of customer really gets my goat, If you want to buy a reel from ebay ask for a 3D picture.
But joking aside if you had a complaint you should have spoke to me, you can even phone up and tell me who it was even if it was me ,and i will sort it out.
But i know both of my staff give out correct info and tell customers about marks etc, and where and how to fish certain marks, how a place is fishing and we will even tell you if nowt is getting caught.
We do not force onto or sell items to anglers that they do not need.
I also have plenty of knowledge of course fishing and even spend time showing anglers how to fish with a pole and i do not charge money like certain local commercial ponds.
Thank you lads for your comments.
hope to see you on the beach

I've always found that Andy Rutherford has always gave good, sound advice if anyone has needed it....He's a top angler too, so will always give you TRUE up-to-date info on where's fishing.

He knows rods, tackle etc inside out - if Andy doesn't know it - it aint worth knowing!

Top bloke, and all the kit you could ever need for sea fishing in his shop....

I'll 2nd that great service at Rutherfords. :)

dealing with money paying customers is one of the most thankless jobs you'll ever do...can only speak from my experiences of Whitley Bay and North Shields IE: Temples/Frasers now Lewis' and Billys I've never had a bad experience and I'm deffo in no clique LOL

Why have you inverted my name in commas? Most people who know me know it's my nickname and I'm fairly well known even by one or two on here? I think it's a good nickname "Darren". Anyway, fair point, you may me be showing off your prowess in English grammar so not to worry.
You don't look like an English teacher, by the way.

The point of the thread was to provoke discussion as I know a stack of anglers that would never visit a certain shop, or another shop for this very type of reason. If you need any clarification on where I'm coming from PM me and I will wilfully help you (and explain my personal experience reflected by others too) - with or without your inverted commas.

could name some names here but i am not, and they are all so called top anglers, and will not give you the time of day when fishing and think they own the place.

A mate and me as kids watching the SAMF went to observe some of the big rods fishing it namely Alan Yates for advice and to put into practise the things he spoke about in the mag 'help juniors' etc. Well it was before the match had started and he was all baited up and prepared and we asked if we could chat to him about his methods. He told us to f off.

ha well true. its the attitude that only generates a stubborness in return to counter the rudeness by ignoring them.

Maybe so but his worm is shocking. £2.50 for 10 tiny (and I mean tiny) blow lug last year when I was there. Never again.

Top rods.

Top rods.

My experience of a "top local rod" was all good, namely T.Taylor.When i was a young lad my parents had a van at s.bay, whenever there was a northerly blow he would be along the cliffs in summer, that was my 1st experience of a proper angler, what i learnt from him just by talking and observing set me up in my angling career, that man could catch fish outa puddle.Yet i often would hear other anglers call him a miserable bugger,"jealously"maybe.I know it going of track abit thread bowt tackle dealers, point being each to their own.

last year most tackle dealers south of the tyne sold very small lug, this was the worm there diggers supplied them with.they had to sell the worm they were sold ,i got the same type of worm in a different tackle dealers ,supplied by the same digger .

I have no doubt, but I doubt you were told they were good worm and then wrapped behind the counter and passed on. My own fault, I should have checked the worm before handing my money over.

Well i have started to use Flash Tackle and found them very helpful.
It means going out my way and its further then other dealers from me but i would rather drive and put cash in there pockets
