Missing angler

Would never fish a rock mark alone especially with such a sea running as last few days. Why take the risk? Is it right the search has been stood down?
Dreadful for all concerned if the worst has happened... still hope yet :(

Nigel Savage, 49, from Beverley was reported missing to Humberside Police at 1.04am today (Friday) after he failed to return home following a fishing trip with his two springer spaniel dogs to Burniston the previous day.

Mr Savage’s green coloured Peugeot 206 car was located at 0326hrs today in a lay-by at Crook Ness, Field Lane, Burniston and the two springer spaniel dogs were located at the cliiffs near to this location. His rucksack and some fishing tackle have been located on the cliffs but there is no sign of Mr Savage.

certainly dosn't look good at all, having a spaniel (well my sons but he spends more time with me, like all this weekend) they would never leave their master, they would sit there until he returned

on the calender news it appears one was rescued partially down the cliff.loyal dogs are spaniels.my thoughts and prayers go to all families concerned.davey.bb

yeah i think the dogs are telling a story with this one, still hope though, could've fell in got injured and managed to get ashore further down the coast and with the right gear on still could be a good outcome.

im sure we should all very grantful to all who have all risked thier lives taking to air, sea, foot and rope to search for of our brothers bb

'Massive search' for missing angler - Beverley Guardian

No mention in the clothing of flotation/suit gear which at least would have given him a brief chance of getting back out... strangely no mention of rod stand either sounds like a freak wave overwhelmed the rocks and maybe attempting to rescue equipment the worse scenario occurred. :(

Thoughts are with his family

his rod stand was still in his car.

a very sad time......
