Monster 49 pound shore fishing Norway, Skarnsundet!!

wonder what would happen if you used your normal cod baits, but a bit bigger
normal cod baits were used mait,we tried blacks, yellows, mussel, cart, crab, clam but without doubt bluey was by far and away the best bait for the bigger fish, the other baits also took plenty of fish, but the haddock are onto the worm baits pretty fast, long before any codling get a look at them, the first part of the reports are up on our site now, there will be another part put on later tonight.

i am pretty sure when people look at these pics they will be thinking i would love to go there.

say iceland cause it is furthest away i no this will depend on a few factors but what would total cost be for a week in iceland sea fishing

also for norway

I have looked at going there for the last 2 years but the sad fact is you can have 3 2 week holidays in spain for the price of 1 week in Norway. It all comes down to have much you willing to pay for that dream fish and how much you love your sport.

I just love the idea of having a cabin and a boat outside your window that you can jump on and go fishing.

Maybe 1 day err, just hope the cod is a species we cans till catch and not just see in book pictures.

You must get cheap hols in spain mate cos we never spent much at all going to Norway!!! £600 all in at the most and it will be done cheaper next year :)

three hols in spain,do you travel there on a push bike and stop in a tent:confused:
£375 for the four/five days stay we were there, then the flights on top which were £120 return.
then our bait which was £20 pp.
and diesel and parking for the motors down to stansted which was around £20 pp all in.
obviously a bit grub from the local supermarket when your there which isnt cheap, but again for the basics and split down between everyone isnt much at all, infact less than 100 pound in spending money was spent by myself, and that was with bying 400 ciggies at the airport too:cool:

Must have looked at the wrong site then as cheapest i have seen is £1200 for 6 days with 5 days boat hire ,that is flights, transport to accom and B&B

yer 1 week in Spain for £129 and then again for £220 cant go wrong..you can hire a bike if you like but not my thing :)

If i could find a 5 day hol with a boat B&B for under £500 i be there if a few wanted to go :)

John for a full week it will cost you around £900.
The fishing is excellent, I know Norway is throwing out monster fish in winter however what iceland lacks in size it sure makes up for quantity with fish regularly caught to double figures.
If you need more info contact me and i will try and help.

A great experience with a brilliant set of lads, what a laugh!!! with the added bonus of catching the biggest Cod that I've ever seen. My pal Nicky Robson caught quite a few double figure Cod to 48lb and Haddock to 7lb............a big well done goes to Phill Dale of Skarnsundet fishcamp who worked his socks off to put us all on the fish.

My 49lb 7 ounce shore caught Cod was bigger than the current European shore caught record of 44lb. I won't be claiming the record though because it was impossible to get the fish weighed on a certified set of scales.

I'll be back over again though next Feb looking for a 50lb'er with a set of Post Office scales in my luggage, lol.

Not to worry though it was a privilige to catch such a monster.

Hello JV,
I've been reading the posts about your trip on here and also on the whitby site and I just want to say thanks to yourself and Mick for sharing your photos and report with us.

I'd never heard of the BSA site, do you have to be member to view the posts?

Thanks again lads.

Regards Ian

yep you have to register an accounbt mate.

Why not post the report here? Are you just using NESA to advertise your site?
Keith from what weve been told we are not aloud to put anything up promoting the skarsundet fishing camp, as Phil had problems with his last report he put up on here.

With Phil being an excellent guide and coming up trumps for us lads, theres links on the report to Phil and the skarnsundet fish camp, which he well and truly deserves because we wont be forgetting that trip in a hurry along with all the hard work Phil done for us.

If there isnt going to be any problems, i'll put Jarrow Vikings report up:)

regards Mick

Cheers Mick,

Better wait and see what the admin think, other dealers have had adverts removed in the past but if it's recommendations from punters that may be different.

I personally cant see a problem with putting a fishing report on any site.

I dont think the mods would have any objections either, what they are against is blatant advertising.

Put it on is what i say
