Mooring snubbers

Got a right good hammering today in the marina,F8 winds south/easterlies blowing 40knots and above.
Started just on first light then increased as it got to midday.

The snatching on the mooring lines was on overload and portside bow snubber burst off the line, then the aft snubber burst as well.
The metal spring stubber was under max compression most of the time,so proved useless really.

Just wondering if any lads know a better snubber system than these or seen anything that would do a better job,was told today a home made jobby using a 4x4 inner tube but the fella didn't know how it was attached.

Over the west coast at Maryport, the marina staff closed the gate early to ease the movement but to be honest it wasn't the swell just a very strong s/e gale,at one stage there was 50 knots on my wind meter but just in short bursts.
Bloody frighting to see boat snatching on the lines, thought the lines might part or my cleats get ripped out but all held.

Normally we get west/south westerlies and at the same wind speeds the boat would be fine, but as soon as it moves into the east or north then the problems start.
Its just the mooring location that's the problem as east winds are blowing off the land so out at sea is fine, well wouldn't like to be out in them speeds mind.

Hi Harry,
I bet you have had one or two sleepless nights with that lot.
If I go on the pontoons I always use the square shaped ones with the holes down the middle, they will be stronger than the ones your using IMO.
I am sure I saw them in Storrars when I was across there last time home, you could also try ASAP supplies.

Cheers Dave, will check them out.

Have you tried nylon warp harry

That's what the lines are Dean,1" dia nylon gives a little but in them conditions deffo need snubbers.
snubbers are rated at 25ton but one of the big problems is the wind direction hitting the boat side on,also the 45ft stick doesn't help the windage problems.
cheers.
