Just got back from the MOG and can confirm that mackerel are being caught from the usual shore marks. Tope and herring from the boats. Bass on crab. Back over in a week so best dust down my fishing gear then. Never wet a line since coming back from Australia 3 weeks ago !!!

There is a fair chance we could be over at the caravan then, you are welcome to call in for a cuppa and a bit craic.

Up there for a week at the end of the month, do you reckon any boats would have room for two lads for a day's fishing, we'd need to hire the gear as well though as only got shore gear.

June the 18th free and July the 1st and 3rd on Onyermarks but thats it until the end of July...just spoke with him i was going to book a pollack trip from port Logan.

If Ians two boats are fully booked you could try Spike and his charter boat Go West based in Drummore. 01776840555 He just came out of hospital a short time ago so do not know if he is fully fit yet ???

Also Andy Wainright and his charter boat Riptide are based in Drummore. 07789304366 and 01776840628.

Hope you get fixed up ok

I was up there last week went out a few times, there was a few mackerel starting to show on the Mull, bit too blowy Logan side. Water was still quite cold, going back up on the 18th after work for the rest of the week (Birthday on the 19th...).

As mentioned earlier by John there was bass on crab and mackerel. Put him straight back and just got really small doggies after that....

Nice view at Dunskey Castle camping, I've hidden the reg. plate with some cunning photo-trickery too!

Had worse weeks up there to be honest just me and the old man too. First time he has fished in 4 years since he had a stroke. He couldn't cast out or bait up but he did the rest. We caught some doggies at Terally Bay on Thursday and it was great!

Not heading back over till late on Friday 14th Ant. Will be there for a few weeks so see you there. Will be out lure fishing for bass most mornings/evenings,depending on the weather and the tides.

Breaking news - took this from the Onyermarks home page.

TOPE ON THE FLY - Both Onyer Marks and Onyer Marks Too boats have been taking good numbers of tope every day this week but there is no doubt the fish of the week and probably the fish of the year was a tope caught on the fly by Alex Wilkie. Alex has broken our mackerel and pollack fly records during the last two years and has made no doubt about his ambition to catch a tope on the fly and his patience was rewarded with a tope of 27 pounds. It is a brilliant catch but some of the credit must go to Matty who worked hard to get the fish feeding near the boat. I don't want to give the details as one of the angling monthlies is interested in doing a feature. Has anyone ever heard of tope on the fly before? We certainly haven't.

Now that would have been some scrap !!!!!
