In that case yours will be as good as mine.. so instead of attacking my posts that were intended to help try putting in something constructive.

Everything i said was from my own experince i wasntstating facts for the whole north east..
My main helping point was that it matures and gets better when refroze a few time. But that seems to of went straight over ya head defending ya mates mussel

Nemo, just to clarify.

I was not defending a mates mussel, what i was doing was letting you and others know not all mussel sold in tackle shops is par boiled.

It only takes a hint of an idea on a forum and the less experienced angler will start believing what he/she has read which is great if it is good advice.

Example: if someone had been using shop bought mussel and not caught anything with it he/she may well believe they were just unlucky, however after readng a remark like the one you made about shop bought mussell being par boiled then that may just give the particular angler a good reason as to why they are not catching with mussel and he/she will then choose to not buy from a tackle shop.

Valid points but if your earlier replys were put like that this wouldnt have gone on.

i also named shops and my veiws on what i bought and my veiws on my own.
try explaining ya self better and ya wont come accross like the knob you did.

at the end of the day i take all valid criticism on board and other peoples veiws are as valuble as my own. Instead of putting me down why not aim your comments at the OP instead of me and my views

just leave it at that. Im happy with what i do your happy with what you do

Iv bought mussel from a shop and never cought with it but just thought it was just me as i only used it a couple of weeks ago. Is it a better winter bait or summer bait lads

Baited with big trouser muscles after work tonight. Par boiled one and left the other raw. Had nibbles on both. Neither seemed favoured. Best take was on both together. Wasnt watchin at the time but the tug gave me quite a shock.

Unusual as it is for me to get involved.......but when you say:

- when, perhaps, you meant "haven't bought mussel..........." your argument deflates somewhat.

I've actually been in tackle shops that have par boiled them - it's obvious and the answer is not to return if you think they are a poorer bait like you said Nemo. Terry is also quite within his rights to put forward his shop's policy so as not to get embroiled in the discussion.

Don't see me taking sides here - life's too short and I'd be disappointed if you were to include me in whatever obscenity hides behind the asterixes. I think you're perfectly entitled to point out that some shops sell mussel in a manner you find less appealing (I was once given frozen crab with lungs intact and chose not to repeat the order) and I think a shop owner should be able to point out that his shop doesn't sell said goods. No problem.

There should never of been a situation to take sides on.

more than one person instantly dismissed my capabilities to judge what par boiled and fresh is.
a simple reply would of been to say to the OP
"Not all tackle shops sell par boiled mussel"

And then offered some help as to where sells the good fresh gear mentioned.

the one thing what annoyed my the most was my main point was that mussel gets better with age. Therefore i believe its better not to store in single small bags.

but too many narrow mined people miss the point and go off on one.

I dont know how anyone can read all of what ive said and take the tone that im in the wrong or out of order.

Nothing more than opinions on personal experience.
